Fall Bootcamps: Payment changes

Happy Summer everyone! I hope you are all continuing to work towards your fitness goals this summer as we take a little break from the bootcamps. We will continue the Bootcamps this fall around mid-September, but will require at least a 50% deposit through paypal before confirming any of our fall bootcamps. Unfortunately there are a few people who have been confirming through email that they plan to attend bootcamps and I've always taken them at their word, but when the bootcamps begin many who pledged to come, don't show up. This is causing alot of disappointment to all of the committed participants who show up as well as the trainers who come to teach class, causing us to have to cancel some bootcamps and issue refunds. I'm hoping that by getting deposits on the fall bootcamps that more of the participants who say they are coming WILL come to avoid losing their money.

I will update the website with the bootcamp classes that we will offer this fall (pending full registration and deposits). Once the deposits are in we will confirm which bootcamp classes have enough registered participants to run.

Fit To Go Summer Bootcamps!

Hello everyone!

I want to congratulate ERIN CORTES for winning the 5 hour spa package from the 2nd Phase of Fit To Go Beach Body Bootcamp!! In Phase 1, Erin lost a total of 5 pounds and 5.5 inches and in Phase 2, she worked very diligently to lose another 7 inches and 8.5 pounds!! This is a whopping 13.5 pounds and 12.5 inches in only 10 weeks! CONGRATULATIONS ERIN!! :)

We are nearing the end of the 3rd Phase of Bootcamps...they will be ending on June 19. I hope that you've all worked hard at reaching your goals for this Phase so your names will go into the draw for the Cruise for 2!! Please be sure to EMAIL me with your results from all Phases so I will know who should go into the draw and how many times to enter your name. Keep in mind that you would be responsible for airfare and port taxes on the Cruise, etc.

SUMMER IS ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY NOW!! We will be having our SUMMER FIT TO GO BOOTCAMPS OUTSIDE (RAIN OR SHINE) IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: Providing that at least 8 people register for each bootcamp.

Mondays 7pm-8pm Irving Nature Park: Meet at the first parking lot at the end of the Beach.

Tuesdays 7pm-8pm Rockwood Park: Meet at the first parking lot at the entrance to Fisher Lakes.

Wednesdays 7pm-8pm Meenan's Cove Beach: Meet at the parking lot near the playground.

All classes will run once a week for the summer (11 weeks in total), from June 22 until Sept. 2. THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES ON WED, JULY 1 AND MON, AUG. 3 due to Holidays= 10 classes on Mondays & Wednesdays and 11 classes total for Tuesdays.

Some people may want to sign up for more than 1 bootcamp so you can keep working out at least 2-3 times a week. If you do this, you will receive a discount! Your registration includes a medium tension resistance band--which you will have to bring to classes with you. Also bring water, a yoga mat, blanket or towel for ground work, and be FULLY prepared to workout in the rain/mud on those kinds of weather days!

Sign up for all Three Summer Bootcamps for $300


Drop in sessions will still be available for $17 and Punch Cards (6 sessions for $80) will only be available on or after the first night of classes (once the sessions have enough participants to run).

Everyone who signs up for bootcamp will get a Fit To Go Summer Bootcamp card indicating which bootcamp you're signed up to attend. You must bring your card to EVERY class if you want to participate (so the instructor will know you've paid for class), so be sure to keep your card in your gym bag or your vehicle! :) If you miss a class due to vacationing, you can make up that class by attending one of the other summer bootcamp sessions, however the cards will expire on September 2, 2009--no exceptions!

There is one more Bootcamp to mention, however this bootcamp will cost $225 due to meeting twice a week:
Mondays & Wednesdays 12:10pm-12:55pm Harbour Passage: Meet outside Market Square near Ale House on sunny days. This is the ONLY class that will come inside on rainy days (meeting at Ambiance Day Spa).

Phase 3 Begins May 19! 7 weeks until Summer!

BEACH BODY BOOTCAMPS: Phase 3 will begin May 19 - June 19 (ending just before Father's Day & around the same time school ends!). All of these sessions are 5 weeks in length (only another 7 weeks until Summer) which means we are down to crunch time to get those Beach Bodies! :)

Hello Everyone!

Congratulations to all of you who have completed the first phase of BEACH BODY BOOTCAMPS!! Phase 2 of 3 starts next week: April 14 - May 14! Phase 3 will begin May 19 - June 18 (ending just before Father's Day & around the same time school ends!). All of these sessions are 5 weeks in length (only another 12 weeks until Summer) which gives you ALL plenty of time to set your Beach Body Goals....and ACHIEVE THEM! :)

Also, I just wanted to mention that the point of the relay races in the last week of bootcamps is NOT to WIN and beat the other team--but is designed to motivate you to push yourself beyond the limits of what you are comfortably capable of doing to enhance your own personal fitness. Extreme competitiveness WILL NOT BE TOLERATED--so while it's not your turn to complete exercises please do your best to cheer on your fellow teammates at whatever level they are at so no one gets discouraged during participation. Beach Body Goals: Lose 5-10lbs, 3 inches


Okay everyone...most of you have similar goals over the next 5 weeks: lose 5-10lbs and 3 inches overall. This is a SMART goal for a 5 week period. It's specific, measureable, attainable, realistic, and timed. Now just because you've said it out loud and written it down on paper does not mean that you will magically lose 5-10lbs and 3 inches over the next 5 weeks. What you have to do next is write down more specific weekly goals such as:

Week 1 = SURROUND YOURSELF BY PEOPLE WHO WILL MOTIVATE, INSPIRE, AND ENCOURAGE YOU TO STAY ON TRACK AND DO YOUR BEST! Plan healthy meals and snacks ahead of time by cooking all the meals on Sunday and packaging them in serving sizes for the rest of the week, or always eat left-overs by cooking the night before for the next day, or do crock-pot cooking so supper is ready for you when you get home. If you travel a lot, then plan your meals and snacks accordingly. Always have nuts, apples, and water in the vehicle and bring your lunch with you to work. Drink plenty of water-start by increasing your water consumption by 1/4 cup every 2 days until you are consistently drinking 8-12 cups/day.

Week 2 = FIND A WORKOUT PARTNER & DEVELOP A PLAN OF ACTION FOR EXERCISE AND NUTRITION! Along with continuing to plan healthy meals and consuming enough water throughout the day, this week you should plan to add 2 more days of exercise to supplement the 2-3 days of bootcamps you are attending. Be sure that you exercise for 30 minutes at a moderate to high level of intensity (housework does NOT count as exercise...that counts as activity).

Week 3 = LOG EVERYTHING TO ENSURE YOU ARE STAYING ON TRACK--BE HONEST TO YOURSELF! By week 3, you should be getting the hang of food preparation and water consumption. You should be feeling more energetic and perhaps have already lost 3-5lbs or so...weigh and measure yourself here at the half way point to see where you stand. This is where you really want to ensure you are properly logging your food and continuing to make healthy choices. Omit condiments such as ketchup, butter, gravies, sauces, mayo, etc...instead focus this week on seasoning your food with natural spices and perhaps salsa every once in a while. Tis the season for BBQing, and that is a GREAT way to cook your lean meats and veggies with very little fat! Season your meats and fish on the BBQ with pepper, spices, lemon, etc. If you don't eat fish very often, this is your week to try salmon! It's such a tasty fish with lots of flavour and full of omega fats to keep you healthy! Continue to drink 3 Litres (12 cups) of water a day and limit or omit all coffees, juices, sodas, etc.

Week 4 = INCREASE YOUR INTENSITY AND FOCUS! Down to crunch time! Time to up the anty! Now turn that 4-5 days a week of exercise into 6 days of exercise of between 30-45 minutes at a moderate to high intensity. Plan to go skiing, snow shoeing, swimming, to the gym, cycling class...somewhere where you will be kicking it up a notch in your fitness. Always take 1 day off a week, continuing to plan out your meals for success! :)

Week 5 = STAY STRONG & FINISH HARD! This is the final countdown...there's no time to give up now. You can see your goal and it's so close now! Stick to your goals, continue to eat healthy, drink plenty of water and exercise. If your head and your heart are ready for the change, then CHANGE IS INEVITABLE!! The best thing you can do is BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and REMIND YOURSELF OF YOUR GOALS...And DO everything you promised yourself you'd do in order to reach them!

Answering your questions! :)

Question: Hi Amy, I'm taking you up on your offer to answer any fitness/nutrition related questions! I am looking for an arm exercise that will help me get rid of my underarm bulge...I hope you know what I mean! It is noticeable and sticks out when I wear anything strapless. Everyone I talk to, has it but I hate it!!! Any suggestions?

Answer: Thanks for your question. As for the underarm bulge there are a few exercises that can help tighten that area such as triceps dips, triceps press, triceps kickback, push ups, etc (any arm/back exercise like pull ups, high rows, etc will help tighten), however, the bulge is normally fatty tissue around the upper back area and under the arm. The only real way to get rid of the bulge is to really lean down by eating a clean diet. This means no condiments, no sauces, no butter; instead focus on eating foods that are from their original source from nature. For example, eat an apple rather than applesauce (which is a few steps away from the original source). If you love sweet foods then try sweet potatoes! If you love chips, replace with baked Mother Nature's Whole Wheat Pita bread with just a brush of pesto-Yum! :) As always, drink plenty of water and avoid the empty calories found in soda's and some juices (again, juice is just another derivative of food a few steps away from the nature source). Question: I have some goals for this 5 week program but I need for you to tell me how realistic they are. My main areas of focus are my thighs (would like my pants to fit me better, not so tight) and weight. Is to lose an inch from each thigh and lose 3-5 pounds realistic?

Answer: Hi! Thanks for your question! Your goals for the 5 weeks are reasonable and realistic. Now, you need to set in motion what you will do to achieve those goals....will you increase the numbers of hours you are exercising each week? or will you be drinking more water, less coffee and soda, staying away from sweets, and eating more nutritious foods? What's your plan then? Will you cook your meals in advance? use a crock-pot? eat more veggies? Everything should be planned out so you have something more specific to follow to reach your goal. Think about it and write it down in the log book. When our goals are written down, we are more likely to achieve them! :) Hope this helps! ~ Amy ~

Fit To Go can hold Bootcamps at different times during the day and evening as long as we have 10 participants pre-registered and a place to train. Bootcamps normally run for 4-6 weeks, running 2-3 times a week and average out to $11.25/session/person.

Group training can also be arranged for individual groups of 2-4 people. So if you and a few friends have similar fitness goals and can meet at the same time and place, then private group training can be arranged for as low as $20/session/person (which is 1/3 of the cost of regular training prices!).
